Lawrenceville, Georgia (population 32,000) is essentially a suburb of Atlanta and is about 45 minutes northeast of that city's downtown in northern Georgia. It was founded in 1821 as a courthouse town and named after Captain James Lawrence, who famously uttered the phrase, "Don't give up the ship!" during the War of 1812.
The city soon became an important center for trade and commerce, and its population began to grow. In 1883, the Georgia State Legislature officially incorporated Lawrenceville as a city.
Today, Lawrenceville is a thriving community bisected by three major interstate highways: I-85, I-987, and I-985. The city's proximity to these highways makes it an attractive location for businesses and commuters alike.
In addition to its convenient location, Lawrenceville is known for its relatively low cost of living. Compared to other towns and cities in the Atlanta metro area, Lawrenceville's housing costs are generally more reasonably priced.
