Goose Creek, South Carolina
Goose Creek is Outside of Romantic Charleston on the Southern South Carolina Coast and Boasts Safe Neighborhoods and Nearby Oceanside Beaches
Pleasant Goose Creek is only 10 miles from North Charleston, which is only seven miles inland from Charleston on the southern South Carolina coast. Not established as a town until 1961, Goose Creek is primarily suburban but has a U.S. Navy presence (the 17,000-acre Naval Weapons Station Charleston is located here).
This area was once home to cotton plantations, and their ruins are sometimes incorporated into new master planned developments. A good example is Crowfield, which features an old plantation in its housing plans and golf club. Neighborhoods are tidy with Cape Cods, four squares, split levels, Colonials and more. A Publix, a Wal-Mart and a few other box stores are here. Restaurants are mostly Mexican, Chinese and American chains. The town manages 14 parks, a pool, tennis courts and a community center. The Goose Creek Reservoir is popular with paddlers and is inhabited by bluegills, speckled perch and snowy egrets.
Nearby parks include the Francis Marion National Forest, the Magnolia Plantation and the Old Santee Canal State Park, which commemorates the nation's first canal system with four miles of boardwalks and an interpretive center. Marrington Plantation is a park with deep woods, fishing, wildlife watching and excellent biking and riding trails. Sullivan Island, about 18 miles away off the coast of Charleston, has nearly three miles of white oceanfront beaches.

South Carolina:
South Carolina is nicknamed the Palmetto State and its motto is "Dum spiro spero," which is Latin for "While I Breath, I Hope." It is 40th in size in the United States and was the eighth state to be admitted to the Union on May 23, 1788. The largest city and state capital is Columbia.
Formerly known as the Province of South Carolina, the area was also one of the Thirteen Colonies that declared its independence during the American Revolution. The state was the first to secede from the Union and was the first and founding state of the Confederate States of America.
South Carolina is in what is considered the Deep South and is bordered by the states Georgia on the south and North Carolina on the north.
The state does not host any major professional sport franchises. However, the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes actually represent both North Carolina and South Carolina.
