Tucked in pretty western North Carolina, Fletcher is a Blue Ridge Mountains town with a nice reputation. It sits between Asheville and Hendersonville and has a suburban, country vibe.

Residents enjoy a summer music series with concerts in the park. Other events and festivals include an annual chili cook off, a memorial golf tournament and a Christmas tree lighting. There is no defined downtown area, but Fletcher manages a community park with Cane Creek trails, arboretum gardens and playing fields. A walking trail meanders through Kate's Park next to the library. Broadmoor is one of the area's golf courses. Both Interstate 26 and the Asheville Regional Airport are just west of town. Neighborhoods include compact subdivisions with ranch ramblers and quiet areas with large homes on wooded acreage. Many properties have mountain views.

"Esse quam videri" is the motto of North Carolina, also known as the Tar Heel State. It was the 12th state to be admitted to the Union, joining the other states on November 21, 1789. North Carolina was also one of the Thirteen Colonies and was originally named the Province of Carolina. It was the second to the last state to declare its secession from the Union during the Civil War.
