Maurepas is an unincorporated community along the Amite River, which is a tributary of nearby Lake Maurepas, in southeastern Louisiana, about an hour to the northwest of New Orleans and the coast. Baton Rouge is 45 minutes to the northwest.

Businesses and organizations, including a senior center, a few retailers, a couple of churches, the post office, are spread out, and homes, mostly ranch ramblers, sit on rural lots. Gonzalez, roughly 15 miles away, is where most folks go for supplies, dining out, etc.
