Buchanan, Georgia:

Leafy Buchanan (population 1,500) is a nice, non-touristy little town about an hour to the west of downtown Atlanta in northern Georgia. It is the Haralson County seat so its quiet downtown has some government offices along with eateries, a hardward store, a hair salon, insurance agents and the like. Most of the shops surround the beautiful red 1892 Queen Anne-style courthouse.

In the restored Little Creek One Room School House is one of the quilts on the Southern Quilt Trail, an organization that celebrates the history of traditional Southern folk art quilt history and traditions.

Neighborhoods are rural with farmhouses, ranch ramblers and bungalows on large shaded lots.
