Sebring, Florida:

Sebring (population 11,000) is a modest, leafy town tucked around pretty 32,00-acre Lake Jackson in south central Florida. It started out in the early 1900s and today is known for the 12 Hours of Sebring, an annual endurance sports car race held at the Sebring International Raceway. The event draws nearly 400,000 every March and contributes heavily to the local economy.

Known as the "City on the Circle," Sebring has a nice, well-kept downtown with colorful historic buildings situated on a circle that curves around a park with benches and weeping willows. This is the spot for numerous events and festivals, including the particularly fun Sebring Soda Fest.

The Downtown Mall and Marketplace has a variety of vendors, and the farmers' market is right next door. The Secret Gardens Winery and Farm has tastings and events. Highlands Hammock State Park is just four miles west of town. Its 9,000 acres are home to ancient hardwood trees, swamps, 1930s-era structures, deer, alligators, panthers, bears and more.

Neighborhoods oare generally well-tended, peppered mostly with ranch ramblers. Lakefront homes have a boat dock.
