Elegant Community of Sanderling in Duck, North Carolina Has Classic Coastal Homes, a Private Club and an Appreciation of the Surrounding Natural Beauty
Situated at the very northern end of Duck, the community of Sanderling stretches from the dunes of the Atlantic Ocean on the east to the marshes of Currituck Sound on the west. Most of the 191 single family homes here face either the ocean or the sound, but a few sit in between. The development is not to be confused with the Sanderling Resort that sits at the opposite end of Duck.
Constructed in the 1980s, Sanderling is a quiet, understated community with classic coastal architecture. Residences are perched atop posts with a carport underneath and have three to eight bedrooms, two to three stories, exterior staircases, large water-facing windows, a balcony on each floor, a shake exterior and a stairway/walkway to the water. Properties are fairly close together but rest amid natural seaside vegetation and are separated by dense thickets of live oaks and myrtle bushes.
Home prices begin in the mid-$500,000s and reach into the millions. Please verify this price with a Realtor as prices are bound to change.
The neighborhood has an active HOA and is protective of its fragile natural surroundings and abundant wildlife. It also enforces a variety of rules and regulations to maintain property values and commnity standards. These include no parking on streets, no dogs off-lease, no walking on the dunes, no RVs and more.
Amenities include the sound-side Sanderling Racquet and Swim Club, which has a swimming pool, tennis courts and a pier.

North Carolina:
"Esse quam videri" is the motto of North Carolina, also known as the Tar Heel State. It was the 12th state to be admitted to the Union, joining the other states on November 21, 1789. North Carolina was also one of the Thirteen Colonies and was originally named the Province of Carolina. It was the second to the last state to declare its secession from the Union during the Civil War.
The state is situated in the Southeastern region of the United States and is bordered by South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The capital is Raleigh, but the largest city is Charlotte.
The historical people of North Carolina include the Chowanoke, Roanoke, Pamlico, Coree and Cape Fear Indians. The Revolutionary War impoverished the state of North Carolina for several years.
Charlotte is on a rapid growth streak thanks to its banking industry. North Carolina is also home to several universities, including the University of North Carolina, Duke University and North Carolina State University.
The state hosts more than 80% of the NASCAR racing teams and is the site of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Carolina Panthers represents North Carolina in the National Football League, and the Charlotte Bobcats play in the National Basketball Association.
