Yonahlossee Resort, Outside of Boone, North Carolina, Evokes Summer Camp Memories and Boasts Beautiful Homes, Tennis Facilities and Mountain Views
In the mountains outside of Boone, North Carolina, Yonahlossee Resort started out as a 1920s girls' summer camp. As with most summer camps, swimming, horseback riding and basket weaving were standard fare. In the 1980s, a developer bought the camp and turned it into a tennis resort.
Today some of the old facilities, including a barn and corral, still stand, reminding Yonahlossee visitors of their camp days. But instead of sleeping in rustic cabins tucked among the pines, guests now stay in beautiful cottages, condos, town homes and custom homes. Most blend into the hilliside and feature mountain views. A few are usually for sale.
Current prices begin in the mid-$100,000s and top out in the millions. Please verify these prices with a Realtor as they are bound to change.
The tennis center has seven outdoor clay courts, three indoor courts and a professional staff. The indoor swimming pool is in a beautiful indoor facility with a wood ceiling and has a sundeck. There is also a fitness center.
The resort's Gamekeeper restaurant is in a 1920s stone house and has an English pub bar. On cool nights, guests and residents gather around the eatery's massive fireplace to share stories and good cheer.

North Carolina:
"Esse quam videri" is the motto of North Carolina, also known as the Tar Heel State. It was the 12th state to be admitted to the Union, joining the other states on November 21, 1789. North Carolina was also one of the Thirteen Colonies and was originally named the Province of Carolina. It was the second to the last state to declare its secession from the Union during the Civil War.
The state is situated in the Southeastern region of the United States and is bordered by South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The capital is Raleigh, but the largest city is Charlotte.
The historical people of North Carolina include the Chowanoke, Roanoke, Pamlico, Coree and Cape Fear Indians. The Revolutionary War impoverished the state of North Carolina for several years.
Charlotte is on a rapid growth streak thanks to its banking industry. North Carolina is also home to several universities, including the University of North Carolina, Duke University and North Carolina State University.
