Finding the Best Places to Retire Since 2006!
Tubac Golf Resort and Spa
1 Avenida de Otero, Tubac, Arizona 85646
----------------------
Historic Tubac Golf Resort and Spa Features 27 Holes of Golf, Two Restaurants, Single Family Homes and Beautiful Views
The beautiful Tubac Golf Resort and Spa started out as a hacienda after the King of Spain granted land to a local family - the Oteros - in 1787. The property soon became one of the largest cattle ranches in the country.
In 1959, Bing Crosby and some business partners bought the ranch and turned it into the resort it is today (with a little help from new owners in 2005). Just recently, Dorn Homes has begun building elegant single family homes here.
The residential section is called Sanctuary at Tubac Resort. The homes feature Territorial and Spanish Colonial architecture and are nestled along the meandering fairways. Most homes are single story and have two to three bedrooms, two to three baths and 1,800 square feet to 2,862 square feet. Buyers have 25 floor plans from which to choose. All homes are built to "green" standards. At build out, just 42 properties will be here.
Prices start in the $400,000s. HOA fees are around $200 per month. Please check with a Realtor to verify this as prices may change.
Amenities include tennis courts, a swimming pool, a spa and two restaurants. The golf course has 27 holes - and a few cows grazing here and there - and a rumored initial membership cost of $5,500 with monthly dues of $325, although the costs may be higher. Views of the Santa Rita and Tumacacori Mountains are standard.

Arizona:
The Grand Canyon State was originally part of New Mexico. After the land was ceded to the U.S. in 1848, it became a separate territory. It did not enter the union until February 14, 1912. Copper was discovered in the area in 1848, and metals mining continues to be an important part of the economy. Cattle and tourism are two of the states other vital industries.
Although Arizona can be one of the hottest states in the union, air conditioning continues to bring more and more people to the urban areas. The Colorado Plateau spreads through Arizona from the north and is interspersed with remnants of the Rocky Mountains. The land flattens into desert near Phoenix. The Colorado River forms the state's western borders and snakes through the Grand Canyon.
Arizona is home to places with names like Nothing, a ghost town in western Arizona, and the Horspitality Resort.
The state is stubborn when it comes to time. It observes Mountain Standard Time on a year round basis.
